Generic pnp monitor windows 7
Voilà!!! The external HP monitor received the signal from my wife's laptop and she is not dual-screening again!!! Anyway, I deleted the registry keys listed in your linked article (Win 7 has the same registry keys as Win 10 for the graphic card) and re-booted. In my mind, given nothing had physically happened to my wife's laptop (like it being dropped), or any major configuration changes, it had to be something with Windows' settings. Figured it still might be worth a shot if nothing else seems to work. Not sure if that was 100% the fix as I was poking around with several things, but it might have been a contributing factor.Įdit: Link use is Win10, and looks like you are using Win7, so this might not work. Had to poke around with saved settings in registry of all places. I did everything from deleting and reinstalling devices in device manager, trying to over ride it to think it was different, etc. I have add some luck with this article before, but it is about a year old now and millage may vary. I have had issues before where windows will remember settings that do not work with the current display (such as unsupported resolution). My belief is that connecting the HDTV somehow mucked around with Windows's settings and now it cannot detect the monitor.Īny help would be greatly appreciated, as it is hard to go back to working on a single laptop monitor after having used extended desktop with a second monitor for years. I've played around with these settings, in addition to the Windows Key + P, and nothing seems to restore the extended desktop. I've gone into Windows' Screen Resolution options (Right-click -> Screen Resolution) and the second monitor does not appear. The HP monitor, when turning it on or connecting it, always states no signal detected.
Now, we are trying to reconnect her HP monitor back to her laptop for work purposes, and it is not working.

We connected her laptop to our Vizio TV via an HDMI cord, and we had to fiddle with the resolution and text sizes to be able to view the browser in a meaningful way. About a week ago, we connected her laptop to our HDTV in the family room as we shopped for some furniture.

I'm desperate :-( I've been scouring the boards to find a solution to this problem but most answers are related to setting up multiple TVs.įor the past three years, my wife's laptop (HP Envy Windows 7 Pro) has been connected to an HP monitor, via an HDMI-to-DVI cable, thus enabling her to extend her desktop.
